I'll take some egg nog please!

I got up too late this morning to hit the post office, but had just enough time to shower and get ready to meet our family at Bella Vida for brunch! It was raining and cold, but no snow.

everyone at lunch

We met my cousins Jenn, Mark, Barbara and Murray for brunch. We were celebrating Barbara's birthday - the day before - and my birthday, tomorrow. Lunch was very good. I had the chunky monkey pancakes (pancakes stuffed with walnuts, banana and chocolate chips) and scrapple. I think next time I'm inclined to try something else on the menu. Jenn and Mark gave me a birthday card, and Barbara and Murray gave me a birthday cat mug - it's so cute!

My cat mug! Mom says I should leave it in Cape May, but I want to enjoy it at home.
After lunch, we stopped at Moonstruck Boutique. My mom got me a Hanukkah present from there (a CM necklace) and I had been dying to get a look at what else they had. I had followed their posts on Facebook - so closely, that the owner Caroline knew me when I mentioned that I followed on FB! Too funny.I got a beautiful ring and a little sewing box that I adore.

In love with my new ring

We came home and relaxed for a while. I finished my book - Unraveling Isobel by Eileen Cook. It's about a girl whose mother gets married quickly after a 3 month relationship with a guy she met online. She and her daughter, Isobel, move in with the step father and stepbrother, into a manor. The house is named Morrigan, and is in Nairne, Washington. The stepbrother, Nate, lost his mentally ill sister and mother suddenly. Their deaths are suspicious, especially after Isobel starts seeing the ghost of Nate's sister. It was a fascinating read that I really enjoyed. I love Eileen Cook.

Our friends Tina and Don came over and we had a really nice time with them. We gave them a tour of our house! Yay, "our house" feels so good to write. Tina brought little Christmas bags over to me and Michael - with candy, candy canes, little notepads, a mini nutcracker and NYE poppers! She also gave Michael a cat puzzle for a belated birthday present, and me a bar of soap from A Place on Earth (in the fall scent, mmm) for an early birthday present.

After Tina and Don left, our neighbors came over, first two and then one. We had egg nog and chatted with them. All about Cape May, our house, home improvements, school plans, etc. It was a very nice evening. We had a good time.
Totally obsessed with my house keys - love the CM keychain. From when I was a little girl and the house key is leopard a la my dad!

After everyone left, we had some soup and got ready for bed. I can't believe tomorrow is my 19th birthday and I am finally going to get to spend it in Cape May! I only wished every year on my birthday (for years, I might add) that I would get to spend it in Cape May and I finally am! Now I just wish we were staying longer, and I was coming back earlier than March~!

And there goes the power...

This morning I was woken up by everyone talking in the kitchen. Oh, the joys of the downstairs bed room! But what I discovered is that the bed is SUPER comfortable. Figures, right? I finally got up at 10:40 am ish. We had cereal with berries in it while we devised our plan for the day. We took showers and I dried and straightened my hair - something I never do at the beach!

Mom and I left for the post office. There was a letter from my pen pal Mary in the mailbox I noticed before we left! I got one from Lindsay yesterday. We mailed off the rest of my holiday cards and got more stamps. Dad and Michael met us at the post office and we ate lunch at the Pilot House. It was delicious. I had grouper fish tacos and mom and dad had a grouper burger and a pastrami sandwich. Michael had a grouper basket with seasoned fries and we swapped. It was so yum, I can't wait to go back. And the best part? I had won a gift card there on the Exit Zero Facebook Page. It was supposed to have $30 on it, but it had $50 and it paid for our whole meal!

Afterwards we went shopping. At Henry's I chose my birthday presents from my parents. A "Restore the Shore" charm bracelet, and a "CM NJ" charm for my Pandora bracelet. At Across the Way I picked up a bungalow 360 bunny pattern wristlet and four little buttons. I stopped at A Place on Earth and got "I Want Candy" soap scrub as well as a bar of soap in that scent for me, and one to mail to Mary for her birthday - Sunday, the same as me!

Restore the Shore Bracelet

I came home, and Michael was watching How I Met Your Mother, so I watched it with him for a little while. After mom and dad came home, we had a snack and worked on unpacking all the glass and other items we brought up from Virginia. We did that for a good hour. We were getting ready to go out to dinner, when the power went off! Dad fiddled with the breakers, but it wasn't anything we could do. And our next door neighbor to the left had power, but to the right they didn't. Cape May has some sketchy power grids. We found out that 260 people on the grid didn't have power - from our neighbor Gino. We had to regroup.

In the basement, a present to one of the owners of the house.

It's a little light up "winter wonderland evergreen tree" and dad got a blue bulb for it!

We ordered dinner - cheesesteaks, onion rings, salad and sprite zeros from Louie's. While we were waiting for it, we drove around and looked at Christmas lights. Pretty! We debated as to whether the house would be so cold, we might need to check into a hotel. We went to Louie's and ate dinner. We noticed there were fire trucks and utility trucks up on Beach Drive, so we asked a worker what had happened. He said a car had hit a telephone pole head on. Oy vey. DON'T DRINK or TEXT or DISTRACTED DRIVE! Of course, we don't know if that's a factor.

We drove around some more, drove by the Cove beach and saw how totally washed away it had been. So sad. We came back to the house and the power was back on.  Yay! Heat! It's very cold out. I made a birthday card for Mary and finished my scrapbook that I'm gifting to my cousins tomorrow. The power went out briefly for about five minutes before coming back on. Ay caramba - make up your mind, on or off!

We had egg nog, peppermint ice cream from our friends at Bliss and called it a night. Tomorrow we will hopefully make it up to the beach.

Winter wonderland

I have been waiting all my life to go to Cape May in the winter. I have also always wanted to spend my birthday in Cape May. Well guess what? WISHES GRANTED!

Ever since we bought the beach house, I have been thrilled that we can go up off season. But with school in October, I didn't get to go when mom and dad went. Neither did Michael. But that was okay because they were cleaning up and doing a lot of reorganizing and some decorating.

But today is December 27 and we are leaving for Cape May in an hour and a half! We were supposed to leave yesterday, but snow kept us at home. I was not amused.

I couldn't even grasp the beauty of the first snowfall, I was really bummed.
So we had a do-nothing day at home. I watched A Dennis the Mennis Christmas Story in the morning. I spent some time watching Psych, took a shower. We had a  yummy hor d'oeuves lunch. Then I spent about 4 hours (AKA the rest of the afternoon) scrapbooking, and mom did some too. The car had already been packed, since we were supposed to leave on the 26, so we really had nothing to do but relax.

I finished our second Cape May trip and started working on the December trip pages. Three trips to Cape May in one year for me, a record! We're hoping to start the day off by leaving at 10 am. We're going to an antique store in Annapolis. One in Denton. Stopping at Holly's for some noms after going over the Bay Bridge. Then we're going to stop in Bridgeville to go to Antique's Alley and visit kitty Diode. And then we'll have dinner at Jimmy's! Our ferry is the last one, at 7:45 pm SO LATE. It will get us there around 9:15 pm.

It will be a late night, since we have to get all the beds ready when we get there and probably all want to take showers. And I get the lovely honor of sleeping in the room downstairs (NEVER have any of us slept there - our rooms are all upstairs) because my room is in the midst of getting painted! Woohoo! My room at home in VA will be the same paint color as my room in NJ! The color is belize, and it is a beautiful blue hue. Perfect beach house colors.

So my room downstairs has a full size bed and a 1/2 bath attached. My own bathroom! It's the bathroom we usually used when we're downstairs, but I told my fam it's off limits since I'm staying in the room. Take your business elsewhere, please!

So I have to get dressed, take the rest of my luggage downstairs and then Michael and I are heading off to Target to get some last minute clothes, legoes and photo printing done.

Cheerio, talk to you from the Victorian Winter Wonderland! We will be there until Sunday December 30 - my 19th birthday (see, told you about getting to spend my birthday there, finally).

***Arrival update:

We did get out of the house at 10:46 am. Only forty six minutes later than we had intended (side note -- I think I've lost even more eye sight. I need to wear my glasses while writing this on my lap top). We made good time the whole trip. Stopped in Annapolis and I got a glass cat for $3.  We had lunch at Holly's and they were not up to their usual service, slow and our order came out somewhat wrong.

We stopped in Denton and Michael and I stayed in the car. We stopped in Georgetown and mom got these little dishes called shrimp boats. They will be awesome to eat sushi out of, at home. Then we went to the big Bridgeville antique store that always takes us an hour. Also because they have a cat there named Diode - he is 17 and is clearly up there in years. We brought him treats and a mousie. We made out like bandits there. Michael got three mini hess trucks, mom and dad got 6 egg nog cups, a tacky clock, an apple jar and I got a yellow cat planter, wonderbread post card and a DC bracelet.

Aftewards we took a "detour" to see what was in Atlanta, Delaware. Um...NOTHING but two sitting cows. So we turned around (we had had time to kill) and headed to Jimmy's for dinner. It was good, but I think Holly's is better. Fried chicken is always good though! We got pie there to eat on the ferry - which we went to straight from Jimmy's - but oh man, it was cold, windy = ROCKING FERRY. None of us could eat pie. In fact, my dad and I were both nauseous after half of the trip. Easily the worst trip we took on the ferry. We got to CM and stopped at Wawa for breakfast staples.

We got to the house. The driveway was a big puddle and we could hear the sump pumps working. The basement had a small flood. #beachhouseproblems. I think it seemed like it took care of itself.

All the changes my parents had made to the house are AWESOME! Some of the paint is up and it looks fantastic. We made beds, looked at the stuff we bought and around the house. We ate our pie and then headed to bed. It's now a quarter after midnight and I'm exhausted. Off to bed, looking forward to our first day of a Cape May winter!

Perfect cookies and Ice cream day

Got up this morning at noon. Not much going on, but it's still warm out. I sat outside with mom on the porch (she Feng sheui'd the porch). I read my book. I had a letter from Grandma in the mail box. I lounged around before making macaroni for Michael and I for lunch. We also had fish sticks and popcorn shrimp, etc.

This reminded me of all the days I sleep late!

A little while after lunch, we went to the Antique Doorknob store. Then Bliss, but it wasn't open yet. So we went to Ella's, but we didn't want the flavors they had. So we decided to wait until regular Bliss opens. We went into Across the Way and I got a pack of doodle jump post it notes. We came home and everyone got ready for the beach. I baked cookies. Instead of separating the wet/dry ingredients, I put them all together. The consistency was crumbly but this batch was WAY better! Weird. This batch was mostly for the neighbors, so I will deliver them tomorrow. I read my book when I was done.

Cute post its!

Different looking cookies!

Michael came home and showered. And then we both headed to the Surfside for thick sliced pork roll and cheese fries. Yum! We went home and we watched Four Weddings. Then we left for Bliss. I had chocolate peanut butter and vanilla beach. We talked to Mike for a while. Then we left for the mall. I refilled my soap scrub at A Place on Earth and got another adiriondack chair wristlet. And also a Jersey Girl keychain, taffy at Frallingers. We went home and I finished my book. I can't believe tomorrow is Friday and the last day!

Scrapple is where it's at.

Woke up this morning at 9 am. I got up right away since Lindsay and I wanted to go to George's. Mom dropped us off in front of George's and we found out the wait was 45 minutes. Unfortunately, that wouldn't have given us enough time since L had to catch an 11 am ferry, so we walked across the street to try Uncle Bill's Pancake House. I hadn't been there in years, mostly since there are so many other great restaurants here.

They had a table right away, even though it was a zoo inside! I ordered the Cape May Plate, which was home fries, eggs and scrapple with rye toast. It was very decent. I will order pigs in a blanket next tim e- guy next to me had it and it looked yum. Lindsay had a spinach omelet. We paid and then left to the little beach store around the corner. I got a sign that says, "beach beach beach" and is separated by little feet. So cute!

Mom and dad picked us up from there. We went to the ferry and stood with Lindsay and said good bye until she got on the boat. We headed to CVS because I wanted to print pictures for scrapbooking, Flying Fish Studio, Swain's Hardware and Miss Demeanor (got a cute bobby pin) and Hot Dog Tommy's. I had a slaw dog. We ate at home and aftewards I scrapbooked some of my CM pictures.

We also drove by The Beach Shack, which is the hotel we will stay at in one week, when we come back for the wedding we are going to. It definitely looks cute. I will write all about that next week.

I relaxed in the house as it was very hot out. I watched Pretty Little Liars that was on on Tuesday night and just kind of hung out. I also read my book. I came upstairs to watch Baby Daddy in my bedroom, and I fell asleep for an hour. Rest :)

I came down for dinner. We had pasta with the farmer's market veggies. We sat on the porch while it rained. My parents were supposed to go to a concert but it got rained out. They went to the mall and I stayed home and read. I'm sad our time is ending. Tomorrow I want to go to the beach, mall, get a milk shake, funnel cake or something sweet.

The 3T's: Two Dollar Taco Tuesday

Mom woke up me this morning at 10:30 am because she didn't know where Lindsay was. We figured that she went out on a walk. LOL, she would get up and go so early in the morning. Love that inspiration she has to walk. I'm really trying, I have been so good here. I walk at least a mile every day. If I could do that when I get home, I know I would feel so much better.

She came back and I laid in bed watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Why does everyone laugh at me for that? We got up and dressed and headed to Big Wave Burrito for lunch. I had chicken tacos and Linds had fish tacos (way better) we each switched a taco. We also split a strawberry banana smoothie. It was two dollar taco Tuesday! Something was very spicy in the tacos - I've encountered that problem before. Came home drooling for water!

Chicken tacos

It was very hot out so we read our books for a while. I got Michael out from his room in Cyber Space to play a round of go fish and then Pictionary. Funny! After, Lindsay and I were bored until we left for the farmer's market at 6.

We got chocolate blackberry vegan ice cream from Bliss, the moment we got there to cool down. We also picke up some Cape May Plum Jam, flowers (we can have them in the house here b/c no cats!!), and veggies. For dinner we picked up Empanada Mama empanadas, crab cakes, BBQ and chicken, etc. It was really good.

Beautiful flowers from Beach Plum Farms!

After dinner, Mom, L and I headed to the beach to take pictures. Lindsay and I went to the arcade to play skeeball, basketball, fruit ninja and slot balls. We got candy in fudge kitchen, and souvenirs at Morrow's Nut House. We came home and I showered. I worked on my blog. Tomorrow Lindsay and I will go to George's early, before her 11 am ferry! 3 days was short but we had very packed and activity filled days!

Note what we wrote on the sign!

New Experiences Monday!

I was really excellent about getting up this morning (you clearly tell I love to sleep in). I got up at 8:40 am to get ready for breakfast with Denise. She had me come inside to see her dogs. So cute.

We went to Zoe's and of course Denise knew everyone there - including the owners and waitresses, who she introduced me to. One of the benefits of being a local is knowing everyone and everyone's mother (oh yeah, I've been waiting to say that for a while).

I had chocolate chip pancakes and a Diet Rite soda (like Diet Coke but a different brand). Denise had a sausage egg sandwich that I will try next time. It wasn't too busy but it was very hot out. I came home completely and literally dripping sweat. After I said good bye to Denise (and washed my face), dad and I left to get Lindsay at the ferry!

We got her and went to the Acme to get the Adriondack chairs. We got two yellow chairs for the porch, and two pink ones for the backyard. For $12.49 a pop, it was a good deal that we couldn't resist.

I showed Lindsay our house and then James' dad and sister came to get them. We showed them the house and then they left. We sat on the porch for a while until we saw our new neighbor across the street (they just bought the Patronage house on our street) and we wanted to go introduce ourselves as the (almost) new owners of our house.

Matching shirts we have been planning to wear for months!

Her name is Wendy and she took us on a tour of their house. It was beautiful, everything I dream our beach house to be one day. It looked like a picture out of the Pottery Barn catalog. I felt at home amongst the many hues of blue that covered the walls and doors and stairs. And even the furniture. Some was wicker. Classy Cape May style.

She came over and looked at our house. It will be great when we are done renting the house and can decorate the house how we like.

After that, mom, dad and Michael left to do errands. It was very hot out, so I suggested to Lindsay that we bake homemade cookies! Very yum. Even if some of them came out burnt. We each wrote postcards and letters in between batches. Damn oven only has one rack!

We got ready to leave for the beach, and finally got there at 5 pm. We walked along the shoreline and I found (would you believe it!?) seven pieces of beach glass- four brown and three green. We sat on the lifeguard chair after and read for a long time. I read my new book, Diva by Jillian Larkin - from The Flappers series. It is the last one in the series and it came out last week. I had it delivered to the CM house :)

Jackpot!

We left the beach at 6:30 pm to shower. I sat in the pink adriondack chair and read for a while before we went to the mall. We decided to try Stewart's a new store in the mall. It took over the Atlantic book store, which made me very sad to lose.

They sat us right away. It was a swanky place. They take your orders on iTouches! HOW FRIGGIN COOL IS THAT? I got a frosty mug diet coke and three little burgers called Stewies. Lindsay got a chicken wrap. Everything was amazing. I am so ready to head back there again.

Then it was time to shop. At Great White Shark I got a little Cape May embroidered wristlet, and two shell bags that say Cape May (for me and Mom). I had a 10% off coupon for all of that on my Cape May iPhone app - score!

At Henry's I got the Holly Yashi hummingbird earrings I had been looking at for over a week. Okay, drooling over. Then at Bathtime I got the cool leg lotion and created my own scent of the Lemon Sage Gigner body mist. Lindsay got some of the guest soaps - they went up $0.10 cents in price! I couldn't believe it. I'm stingy.

We headed to Bonnie's Toppings to try their fro yo. Another new place in the mall. It was 59 Cents an ounce which is more expensive than Virginia places. It was scrumptious. When we got home, I was dripping in sweat again and took another shower. I wrote this post, and chilled downstairs with Lindsay. Tomorrow will be very hot so we won't do much in the afternoon. Farmer's market for dinner and Bliss in the evening!

Sunday Rain is falling (literally)

I hate how when I wake up in the morning the sheets always are off the corners of the bed. I got up at noon and had a bagel on the porch with my mom, dad and their friend Lori & her daughters.

They went on a walk, and I stayed home because it was too warm for me. I read some of Mom's Cape May journal. I read all about the years from 2003 to present which included fun activities such as: getting hermit crabs, hanging out with Mary and her family, celebrating Mary & I's half birthday on June 30th with cake, fourth of July celebrations/fireworks/parade, antiques, Catherine babysitting, meeting our friends Ginny, Barbara, Denise and the Abramis.

When everyone got back we made mozarella tomato and basil sandwiches. We got ready to go to the beach and got there about three. It was hot and the waves were rough. I read Cosmo and a lot of my Second Chance Summer book. I cooled off in the water and it started raining after a while!

Mom got us rock candy. After that, I walked to the jetty and found a few shells but no beach glass. I came home and ran into Barbara and sat on her porch and talked to her for a while. Came home and showered. Lori and her daughters left. I sat on the porch while it rained and read my book. It got dark out and I had to go inside to finish my book. Amazing. I completely recommend Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson. She's a great author. Her other book  Amy and Roger's Epic Detour is fabulous as well.

Mom and dad went to Ella's to get sushi for dinner, but they hadn't gotten their delivery, so we just had ravioli and gnocchi. Tomorrow I will have breakfast with Denise and get Lindsay from the ferry!

Harry Potter lives in my beach house

I woke up this morning at 11:30 am again. Lazy as usual. I came down an hour later and mom was making pancakes. Score! I got dressed and read my book on the chair inside, as it was very grey and humid out.

We explored the basement for a while. There isn't too much down there. My dad found two very cool antique milk glass lamps that he is going to restore. One of his many talents! One of the doors downstairs is really cool for two reasons: The first, it has a skeleton key, how very antique! So neat. And the second is that it has a crystal knob, which is definitely original to the house. We believe that we are about the fourth owners - I can't wait to get more history analyzed on our house.

One of the lamps dad repaired, afterwards!

Mom, Dad and I left to go to the Tree House Antique store and then the Acme. We picked up some really yummy sushi from the Acme and ate that on the porch. I read some more and then spent a long time scrapbooking and watching Glee!

Basement stairs

I called Denise and made plans with her to have breakfast at Zoe's, on Monday at 9:15 am. Early, so we have enough time to get Lindsay from the ferry.

Our cousins Carol, Walt and Scott came for dinner. They brought pizza from Ocean City - Manco and Manco's. Underwhelming to me, but I'm a huge pizza snob. We ate dinner with them and hung out on the porch for a while. Carol brought us a cute beach house sign and some really cute beachy house pillows. I can't wait until we put them out.We will be keeping our owner things in the cupboard under the stairs (Harry Potter Style).

Harry Potter lives in our beach house

When our cousins left, we basically went upstairs to shower and go to bed. Tomorrow my mom/dad's friends are coming and James leaves Monday/Lindsay arrives!

Friday the 13th - I miss my black cats

Surprisingly, my eyes first opened at 11:30 am this morning, but I didn't feel like getting up right away. Total teenager. So I watched Buffy in bed until mom said Denise (our neighbor) was on the porch. I came down and we all talked. She is so excited we will finally be her neighbors. She has known me since I was a little girl vacationer, so she has seen me grow up.

Afterwards, I made myself macaroni & cheese for lunch with peach slices. I read my horrible Deb Caletti book fro a long time, until I finally finished it. I am so looking forward to enjoying my next book. Afterwards, mom and I walked down to Wanderlust. I got a "Mermaids Welcome" sign. We saw Harry's cat Woody on Pearl Street.

We came home and got ready for the beach. We got there at 5 pm. I picked up a pork roll sandwich from the Surfside (they even sliced it thick) and fries. I ate on the beach. I went on a beach glass and shell walk - I found a lot of little shells and moonies by the jetty.  I read Seventeen Magazine and then started the new Morgan Matson book - Second Chance Summer. Which is great so far. Mom, Michael, Dad and James got sandwiches at Zoe's. I left when they came back and got home at 8:30 pm!!

Moonies

Little shells. SO cute!
Showered and I walked up to Morrow's nut house. I picked up some postcards, lolipops and beach stationary. When I got home, mom had gotten fudge. Yum.

I had a letter from Denise in the mailbox. She wants to get together for lunch next week!

Earrings in Wildwood!

I didn't wake up today until 12:30 pm. I need to go to bed earlier! I had a peanut butter and fluff sandwich, chips, and cookies. I read my book  for a long time. Then I organized some things in my room and watched Teen Mom.

Today I had a letter from Lindsay in my mail box, and the new flappers book! I wrote back to Lindsay and wrote a postcard to my grandma.

Mom and dad went out and when they came home we sat on the porch. Our neighbor, Mr. Mockus, came over and showed us some artifacts the Abramis gave him.

Mom and dad took me to the CVS before they went to the West End Garage to pick up a cat statue, and I printed some pictures and got M&M's. We stopped at Bliss, and Nicole was there with her kids. I had a vegan chocolate mint with blackberry sorbet ice cream. I tried their mystery flavor (if you get it in 3 guesses, you get the ice cream for free) and could not figure it out!

We came home and had BLT's for dinner. Harry (our neighbor from a few blocks away) came by and showed us some cat pictures and helped us brainstorm names for our beach house.

After dinner we left for Wildwood. We drove through and saw neon lights. We went to the rides for a while. I stopped at a jewelry store and found Bunny Beijo Brasil earrings for $13.99 - total bargain b/c at Terry Ivory they are $17.99.

These are perfect since we see so many beach bunnies in Cape May!

We got Mack's pizza, ate some there and took a pie home for lunch tomorrow. Drove out through Wildwood Neon. Tomorrow hopefully it won't rain so I can go to the beach!

Green Beach Glass, Farmers Market and the Ride From Hell

Last night when mom and dad came home, mom sent me a text to come down and that it would be worth it. I was anticipating Malia to be in the kitchen (because she surprised me with that trick a few months ago) but it was the crow watch necklace from Across the Way!

I didn't fall asleep until three am, so I slept into noon. Mom woke me up because her friend Lori was here and we were having lunch. Lori brought blintzes, Philly pretzels and zuchini cake. Yum! After lunch we went to the beach.

From 2-3:30 pm we enjoyed the warm waves, but it was hot. I mooched off the shade from someone's umbrella. We saw lots of dolphins, a few banner planes, a huge boat with a billboard TV on it (really?!) and I even found a piece of green beach glass. I came home and showered. Yay, outside shower!

When mom, dad and Lori got back, we left to drive to the farmer's market. We had Bliss, Empanada Mama's and got lots of fresh veggies. We saw our friends Tina, and Mike, Nicole and their kids. When we came home, I thought it would be a great idea to ride my bike to the mall. Big mistake, because the tires were flat and I got hot and out of breath from pedaling so hard to compensate for the flat tires.

I went to Whale's Tale and got blue shell earrings with my Cape May neighbor's grad money! I got a loose bead shell necklace and hair clip from Making Waves. I also got a Bungalow 360 seal wallet. I was too hot so dad picked me up. My face was so red.

We had spaghetti and veggies for dinner. Tomorrow we will go to George's for breakfast, and the beach and I hope to bake cookies and visit my neighbors.

Monday Fixings

I woke up this morning at 8 am. It felt warm in the house so I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer in bed. Went down at 8:30 am. I watched tv while I had a waffle. Watched TV an had lunch. At 1:30 pm, I went with mom to the Subaru dealer in Cape May Court House.

We took the courtesy shuttle to Stone Harbor. We went to Terry Ivory and looked around for a while. I got a chart necklace with a sailboat charm and it says "you keep me on course." I also got Beijo Brasil jellyfish earrings., Then we went to the surf shop and I got Bethany Hamilton Perfume. I had it when I was like 8 or 9 so it was really cool to have it again!!

We took the shuttle back to the dealer and they had to order a part and we have to come back. We went to the Lobster House and got shrimp, crab fingers, scallops, manhattan chowder, deviled clams and onion bread. We came home and changed to go to the beach.

Mom drove all the kids down to the beach and we went on a walk, took pictures and then came home and showered. I gave Michael a haircut. He said I cut it too short. But it looks better than his usual hair cut.

We headed to the boardwalk. Michael, James and I had our first funnel cake. It was from the surfside and very delicious. I saw Convention Hall. It looked quite out of place. I checked out Morrow's and then came home. Tomorrow mom and Dad's friend Lori is coming. We will also go to the Farmer's Market and get Bliss!

Humid afternoon & Acme

It was hard to fall asleep last night because it was warm in the house. I got up at 11:30 am because it was warm in the house. I had a breakfast bagel from Avalon that mom and dad had brought back., Then I went to the Acme with mom and got all the shopping done quickly (two hours).  We came home and had lunch.

I relaxed upstairs and watched Psych on Hulu. Mom was reading the July Cape May magazine and it had a Facebook comment of hers in it! For dinner we had gnocchi and ravioli. It was really good.

Then mom, Michael, James and I went to the mall. It was very humid. The sky was flickering with lightning but no rain. We first went to splash. i got a mermaid's tail necklace. At Henry's mom and I both got a little Pandora/Chamilia style charms that say Cape May, have a wave, lighthouse and exit zero.We also got round Cape May charms. Mine has a flip flop and mom's has a shell. We got dad a Hello Kitty statue.

Cape May charm and bead
We came home, had fudge & key lime pie. I have some ideas for my cat blog I will work on tomorrow morning.

Free keychain from Henry's celebrating 40th anniversary

My desk chair broke tonight when I leaned back. Oops! I can't wait to go to the beach tomorrow and see Convention Hall as well as check out the board walk shops.

Hot weather & Poppin' Tires

It feels so good to finally be in Cape May again! I woke up at 6 am and remembered I forgot to print my Cape May address labels. So I printed them, went back to bed and finally got up at 7 am, ate breakfast and went out to do my pet sitting jobs.

Rachel, James and Michael ready to go to the beach!
We packed the car and showered at left at 11:38 pm and barely 30 minutes into the trip, on 95 something outside of the car popped and went flying backwards. Dad immediately pulled off onto the shoulder to see what happened. We didn't know if we had gotten a flat tire, lost the roof rack or something else. It turns out it was something on the front tire. Mom's car had been making weird sounds Tuesday night and it went in on Thursday to the Shell to be checked. Nothing was wrong...until today. We thought about turning around to go home or stopping at a close Jiffy Lube, because dad said something felt wrong with the brakes (meanwhile it's over 100 degrees outside).

Mom and dad checked the car again and decided it was ok and we would get it checked out at the Subaru dealer in Cape May Court House.
118 Degrees? SCARY!

We made it to Holly's Restaurant and boy was it crowded! It took a while, but we got fresh fried chicken. Yummy! We stopped at the Denton antique store, but it had no a/c so we didn't stay long. No one got anything.

Ferry sign!

We made it to the ferry at 4:38 pm, perfect timing for our 5:15 ferry. The ride was fairly smooth, just hot and humid - so we sat inside - and we saw lots of dolphins!

We got home at 7:02 pm and unpacked. I went to the mall. I picked up and adorable pair of strawberry earrings at Henry's and some cute saying pins at Across the Way. I looked in lots of shops. Can't wait to shop some more.

My purchaes

I was so hot when I got home. I had a slice of white pizza from Louie's as well as a piece of cheesesteak and onion rings. James and Michael were at the arcade. After dinner we unpacked and got ready for bed. We have a long day ahead tomorrow. Acme, and mom and I are going to the trunk show at Splash!

Anticipation's the game

It's been a year since I posted on this blog. Usually I'm posting 50 some days before Cape May, but alas, having more than one blog - and  school which takes up so much time, takes away from blogging! My other blog, Sandpiper Cat Blog is my main blog, and it takes up all of my time (when I'm not being a teenager - aka sleeping & watching obscene amounts of tv).

But enough about me, more about the  1 DAY  (left) TIL CAPE MAY 2012! And it's not just any other vacation, not just any other year. Because the house we rent? Yeah...we're buying it! I can't believe we are FINALLY going to be locals. It's surreal. And that's probably just because we haven't officially taken ownership. In less than a month's time, we will take ownership of the house.

Until then, we will just enjoy our vacation in an "owner of a CM beach house" mindset. I don't think that has changed any of my to do plans this summer.

Probably the difference between last vacation and this vacation is that a) Malia is not coming because she is in California/Hawaii with her family, so my other bff Lindsay will take her place and come for a few days and b) Michael is bringing his friend James.

I have SO much packed. But I never know how much I will really need. I can't wait to be able to leave our stuff there, and have to pack way less.

Until the day I'm in Cape May...
